Precision laminating

Heraeus’ patented process includes continuous, customized lamination of a pre-stamped metal strip with a pre-stamped plastic strip. It can take the form of a reel-to-reel multi-layer composite of metal/plastic/metal or plastic/metal/plastic.
The layers in a multi-layer composite can be assembled from various materials according to customer requirements to produce the following:
  • sensor substrates
  • substrates
  • connectors
Metal strips range from approximately 50 to 200µm thick, as do plastic ones. All stampable materials are suitable for processing, from copper strip to optical fiber-reinforced epoxy strip.
Precision Laminating
The composite can then be galvanically coated on one or both sides according to customer specifications — usually with nickel, palladium, or gold. The laminated strips are wound continuously onto spools.
Special material combinations and coatings can be developed upon request.
